Here's my million dollar idea, feel free to steal it, especially if you want to set it up in mid-town: Nail Salons with wireless internerd access!

Maybe I'm addicted, but I was getting a pedicure this afternoon and all I could think about was how much I could be getting done if the nail place was a hot spot! I don't think it is very expensive to add wireless conectivity to a place, is it? Plus, all of the nail salons in mid-town that are affordable suck! Fer reals. I remember the good ole NYC days when a girl could get a mani and a pedi on a Wednesday for 20 bux! What the dealio wih the 30 dollar half-ass pedi down south? Pu-lease!

Anyway, I didn't make it to the Blue Monkey last night. I went to meet Helen at Dish and ended up shooting red-headed-sluts with Sims while Mark played Solid Goild! Then we danced. At 1AM I wanted to head to The Buc, but Jason kept saying, "one more song!" So, while he was DJ'ing I walked out the door and headed home. He accidentally called me at some point, so this morning I had a hilarious message of him, Helen and Richens having some conversation.

I might be going on the trolley tour tonight. My friend Christine invited me. But I have to get all of my chores done first. Which is where the Wireless Internet Nail Salon would have really come in handy. Anywho, as said, later I'll be heading to The Buc and Amanda's partay...

See ya there...

Last night I attended the Memphis Blogger Bash at The BBQ Shoppe on Madison and had a great time being an internerd. You would be very surprised at all the cools that showed up. And all the underground Memphis gossip we discussed. It's fun to know people who know people, as they say. Anyway, afetrwards I went to a business meeting. My new business venture allows me to drink beer while I surf the wireless intenet at Murphy's. My grestest wish has come true.

Anywho, at the beginning of the week it didn't look like there was much going on this week, but things are shaping up afterall. Tonight, I'll stop by Dish to show Richens and Sims some love, then head over to The Blue Monkey to check out The Secret Service. Tomorrow night there's a huge benefit with like 82 bands at The Buccaneer for Terrence, who broke his arm in a motorcycle accident, and it's Amanda Stanfill's birthday, so there will be charades and living room dancing at The Stanfill residence. Awesome!

And then Saturday night, my favorite country western band, Papa Top's West Coast Turnaround, will be hosting a weenie roast at The Buc! Well, how bout them apples?

Looks like it's gonna be a long haul to Sunday kids...

P.S. According to this, I am responsible for the war and all other things W.

Effing Canadians...

Ever notice how the focus of this website changes constantly? Before last year's election I wrote more about politics, then I became so disenchanted with the outcome, I stopped watching the news entirely. Now everytime I peek over and see whats going on in the world, I just get pissed off! It makes me so angry! Doesn't it make you angry?

Read this:

What Really Happened?

How can you read that stuff and not get pissed off? Here's the deal. Most non-Bush supporters I know have a problem with the government in theory, meaning that, yeah, the lies and the death toll, and the money spent, and the corruption and ethhical depletion thats going on sucks, but not really enough for anything to be done.

Why is this? Well, because as long as we're fed, we're lazy. Sucks for somebody else, but not me. I have this really intricate theory developing about ethics, capitalism, greed, government and human nature. Way to deep to go into here, but catch me on the right night and I'm sure I'd be happy to wax philosophical over a beer.

ANYWHO -

Last night if you didn't come to the Hi-Tone you missed my awesome rendition of Highway To Hell (AKA The Bush Years) during Heavy Metal Karaoke with a full band. Next time they ask me to do a song, I plan to pick one that I actually know the words to. It was super fantastic fun.

I was planning to go to the Lucero show, but I got such a late start on the evening I detoured. I just couldn't bring myself to pay 8 dollars to stand in line all night for beer. The bartenders at The Deli are soooooooooooooooooo slow! I'm sure it was a great show. And I bet they'll play here again soon ;)

P.S. Big news coming up soon on the Rachel front. Stay tuned.

The Hi-Tone was packed to the rafters Saturday night for what was promoted as Brad Postlewaite's last show with the band. Word on the street is that he plans to move forward with attending medical school, which is kind of hard to do while traveling cross country in the back of a van. The split was amicable and Luke White of The Coach and Four and the best cover band in Memphis, The Pirates, was supposed to jump in and Snowglobe would move forward with it's rock endeavors.

snowglobe.jpg

But wait. There's more.

While I was in the parking lot looking for a light, I ran into someone who told me that Jeff Hulett, the drummer, also quit and it was suggested that Paul Taylor might be asked to play with them. Which bears the question, if Tim and Brandon play Snowglobe songs with Luke and Paul, isn't that really just The Pirates covering Snowglobe?

Oh! The irony!

Nashon.jpg

Anyway, I'm sure they'll figure it out. The bottom line is that they had a fantastic show Saturday night and it was well worth the 180 degree temps inside the Hi-Tone to see it. I stood in the front for about the first 10 songs dancing until I could take it no longer. I stepped outside for some fresh air, but I was told that by the end of the set they had half of the audience up on stage with them. Righteous!

snowglobe2.jpg

I hope it was a great final show for Brad. I'm sure it was a really hard decision to decide to quit and move on to something new. From what I've been told those guys have all known each other since kindergarten or something. But he'll still be running Makeshift, so he'll still be involved.

Anywho, best of luck brad. And thanks for the music.

I'm a music fan. If I say that I am coming to your show, I am coming to your show. Even if it's at Newby's.

Actually, you wanna hear a secret? Newby's has redone their live music area and it looks and sounds really great. It's a bigger venue than The Hi-tone and has more visibility than the Deli. Good job Newby's!

Anyway, even though my main plans for the evening were to catch the Snowglobe show at The Hi-Tone (word in the parking lot before the show was that it was their last one ever! More on that laters!), I decided to go out early and catch Augustine. Since they don't play that often, I ventured past the Parkway to U of Mville to hear them open for This is Goodbye.

augustine.jpg

The opening band was from Nashville and was a little crunchy for me. They played a Pearl Jam cover which probably would have been cool if it were either 10 years ago or 10 years from now. But I digress.

Augustine was excellent. Here's the thing. If you asked me who my favorite artist in Memphis is, well, it's no real secret that it's Harlan T. Bobo. But if you asked me what band might actually breakout and be big, well, I'd say Augustine. I'm telling you, those kids are rockstars. You can believe me now or beleive me later.

Toby.jpg

I chatted with Kevin Cubbins, who is producing their debut, last night after the Snowglobe show and he agreed that they are the kids to watch. Their sound is kind of interpol-radiohead style rock. You can check out some of their songs on their Myspace Profile. Make them your friend, go see their shows, buy them Sparks.

Except for Jake, he owes me a Sparks.

More on Snowglobe tomorrow yo, I gotta get ready to go to the drive-in to see Star Wars. Did you know the entire series is based on the bible?

Well, if you skipped coming to the Buc Thursday night, you missed the metalsluts, weird asian dude, and dancing on the bar, but you did not miss any of the my cheesy metal requests because The Hook-Up refused to play them. Whatevs.

Anywho, Elizabeth, Leilani and Lester came over and we had a metal make-over party before hitting the Antique Curtains show at The Hi-tone. They were opening for The High Strung. I have no idea if the headliner was any good, we came in like a whirlwind, rocked out, took pictures and then loaded out to hit The Buc by Midnight.

Miss Hellion was supposed to be in on our fun but got caught up on her hot date. If you missed it, you'll get another chance to witness the debauchery on June 11th when we play dress up again and go to this:

So, how's your week been? Yeah, I love my life, but I'm kind of tired of talking about it, tell me about yours.

Ok, ok, mine has been filled with metal madness, hickie wars, myspace durama, kickass shows, cool movies, beer busts, and lack of sleep. That's it in a nutshell.

I've got some cool pictures to post, I got patty dreggz workin on a new gallery system. So, more this weekend. I goot go take a nap before the weekend starts. Tonight I'm going to Sven's birthday bash up at Tracks, then to the Miles blowout on Haynes, tomorrow I'll hit The Snowglobe show and Sunday we're going to the fair and then to the drive-in. Monday night Built to Spoill is playing the Deli, then Tuesday it's Cory Branan and Lucero.

People who say there is nothing to do in Memphis are dumb.

Do you know what the proplem with being me is? I am always tired. There is always so much to do and so little time to do it. Right now I should be napping, but no. I am feeling guilty for not posting the pics Miss Hellion sent me Sunday of the crew down at BBQ fest. She didn't say anything, but I still feel bad. She went to the trouble of sending them and all.

Anyway, BBQ fest was fun. All you need to be able to go down to the river and have a blast is to know one peron who has a booth. We knew three. That's what I'm talking about! BBQ and beer tastes oh so much better when it's free.

Anyway, big thanks to Henry and Newman for hooking us up. Even though we had to wade through a sea of khaki's each time we hit the keg, being able to walk to the front of the line and take the tap from the 22 year old frat boy in the front, wink and say, "Please respect your elders" made it all worth while.

bbq3.jpg

So yeah. Fun times. After Dish and the Deli Sunday night, and The Deli and the Hi-Tone last night, this will be my 7th night in a row to go out. That probably explains the tiredness.

As if you didn't know, cause according to some, I am soooooooo predictable, here's the plan:

Tuesday: Beer Bust at The Hi-Tone
Wednesday: Maybe stay home
Thursday: Metal Make-Overs and Metal night at The Buc with Buck Wilders adn the Hook-Up, The Antique Curtains @ The Hi-Tone
Friday: Chris Swenson's Effing B-Day at RPeffingTRACKS
Saturday: Snowglobe at The Hi-tone
Sunday: Drive-In Debauchery or some Drinkard party.

Ok, now I am really going ot take a nap.

Carry On.

goner.jpg

Oh Harlan T. Bobo, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

Last night started early. I went to the CD release party at Goner for Too Much Love. Harlan and friends played the record from beginning to end and it was great except they did not grace us with any costumes or special set decorations. There was free beer and hot dogs though, so they get a pass. Actually, he did read the liner notes with a monkey puppet, so I guess that kind of counts. And he played the angry songs in his Hulk socks.

harlan.jpg

hulk.jpg

There was a great turnout. Many local music celebrities in the house. They know the good shit when they hear it. Susie told jokes when Harlan broke a guitar string. The cool kids were there too.

coolkids.jpg

After the show we went over to media co-op and watched RAD! Well, some people watched it, the rest sat in the parking lot drinking beer. Afterwards, we listened to the new KidPolio album. Well, until the boombox batteries died. So, they just gave us all a copy. While I was outside my camera was hi-jacked and I ended up with various full frontal shots. Yeah, those kids think it's funny - but they don't know that the balcony crew is in effect. They will.

After the movie we all went to the Hi-tone and blah blah blah - fill in the blanks. We all gots kicked out. Some folx went to Tunica, others went to the Two Way. I went to bed. The end.

P.S. I updated my radio.blog. Check it out.

This is my review post on The Cory and Tim Show Part Deux. The Tim portion.

It was an accoustic duo show, Cory does them all of the time. He shows up with Blair Combest or Ben Nichols, they each sit on the stage with their guitars and they drink beer, trade stories and play songs. I guess Tim wanted to break the mold, cause he showed up an hour late with two pianos, two guitars and a trumpet player in tow. Not that that's a bad thing. The multi-instrumentalist played fantastic stripped down versions of several songs off the latest Snowglobe album Doing the Distance including Regime and Rocksong (which can both be found over at everyone's favorite mp3 blag).

tim.jpg

Here was the interesting thing about his performance for me, and I almost don't know if I should even say this. I kinda like Tim better as a solo act. His personality and charm were much more prevelant during this show than I have previously witnessed at a Snowglobe gig. I even felt a tingling of a little bit of a crush come back that I thought had disapated a while ago. Of course, it could have also been that in the spirit of the show everyone drank whiskey shots all night. I've offered to take him out for a beer several times, but he's continually blown me off. That's ok, I live for rejection.

Back to the matter at hand, I would love to hear more solo stuff from Tim. Why doesn't he go all Postlethwaite and do a solo record? (Speaking of which, I heard Brad's got one in the can that should see the light of day soon. And I was told by someone who worked on it that it's kind of upbeat! Awesome!)

tim2.jpg

Anyway, the big news on the Snowglobe front is that their website is back up! Ok, that and, as any card carrying midtown coolster has probably already heard, co-founding member Brad Postlethwaite is leaving the band. I chatted with him about this at The Cinco De Mayo party last week at the Buc. It seems to be amicable and Brad is still gonna press forward with Makeshift. So, don't worry, all you music business majors will still have a place to intern.

Anywho, Brad will be playing his last show with Snowglobe next Saturday night May 21st at The Hi-Tone. That's the must-see show of the month. Let's pack it out and make Brad regret his decision for the rest of his life!

And yes, I know that I go to the Hi-Tone a lot. Whatevs. I go where the good shows are, so sue me. I tried to get Danny to set up a Summer Season pass, but alas, he said it would be an accounting nightmare. Oh well, I tried.

P.S. I totally should have gone to the Two Way after the show. I missed the wrestling match between Cory and Tim on the pool table. See what happens when you go home early?

Something amazing happened last night. The Glass played The Hi-Tone, and they actually looked like they were having FUN! Now, I'm no expert. I've only seen them play two or three times. Jen actually was the one who turned me on to them. But every other show I've seen them play were all kind of downers. Last night, however, they went for it and graced the fans with a very memorable performance.

I actually saw Brad Bailey at Circle K Thursday night and I asked him if he was headed over to see The Dirtbombs. He told me that, no, he was actually headed into the studio to try and finish their album. They were in the middle of working on it at Easley Studios before the infamous fire incident. A lot of the tracks they'd cut were lost. So, they loaded up and headed to John Argroves parents' cabin in the woods, along with recording engineer Kevin Cubbins, and went to work repairing the damage.

Anyway, I guess Brad must have made the progress he wanted Thursday night because he was in high spirits and even though Tommy barely turned from John to face the audience during the whole set, they put on a very energetic and entertaining show. They played a lot of new irony free rock songs. How refreshing.

theglass.jpg

The crowd was going crazy all night long. Especially, the guys sitting behind me. I thought it was a group of frat boys that had gotten lost for a hot minute and ended up in the wrong place, but then I realized it was just a bunch of Analog's friends. They were there for the opening act Vending Machine. And what an opening act it was! I think I have finally seen a show by every band Quinn plays in and I now have a favorite. Not that I don't like The Quacos, The Arch Rivals, The Circuit Benders or any of his other 82 bands, but Vending Machine is way more up my alley. Robby Grant started the show off with a few quiter songs that showcased his voice and allowed for the crowd to discern the lyrics much better than could be hoped for with the full band. I was thrilled he played my favorite track When Will I See You Again?.

vending machine.jpg

So, all in all, it was a great night for rock. Hopefully there will be plenty more nights like it all summer long. Don't forget to check out The Harlan T. Bobo CD Release Party tonight at Goner Records at 7PM, then head over to the Kidpolio record release at The Media Co-Op after 9PM. I have no idea where that is, and I don't have a phone (long story!) so please leave some directions in my comments!

When I grow up I wanna be Elizabeth Harris. She is a complete badass. I was standing on her balcony last night with half the rockstars in midtown, including members of Augustine, Vending Machine, Jack O. and The Tearjerkers, The Clergy, Mung, Viva L'American Deathray, The Angelsluts, The Keep, The MFHDJSO and Cory Branan (and those were just the ones that came by after 2 AM!), thinking about what it took to be as cool as Miss Harris! I stopped by her party last night to wish her a Happy Birthday after The Glass show (which totally deserves it's own post!) and walked into a full-on Heart sing-a-long in her living room! What an entrance! What a way to cap off an awesome night! We had a great time, and yes there are pictures, but no, they will not be shown on this site. But here's one of us girls at The Hi-Tone, including the badass herself, Kasey, Miss Hellion and me. Kasey described it as Two Spinsters and Two Spinsters-in-Training. That's hott!
thegirls.jpg

Oh, and here's one from my party at Dish. This is the record Elizabeth gave me for my birthday. Music to Strip By. See, I told you she was a badass.

Cory Branan and Tim Regan of Snowglobe did an accoustic show at The Hi-Tone Wednesday night. It was recorded by The Beale Street Caravan, which is the most widely distributed Blues radio program in the world, syndicated by over 400 stations all over the U.S. each week. The well over 2 hour performance was taped and will be edited down to 30 minutes to be broadcast in the coming weeks. The show was quite a treat, I'll try to find out when it will be broadcast and let eveyone know.

cory3.jpg

Cory Branan once told me a story about how when he was living in NYC there was this guy who really wanted to start a band with him. He had all kinds of label contacts and knew a bunch of music bigwigs. The guy was vey confident about getting a record deal and really enthusiastic about how succesful they would be. The one catch was that the guy told Cory that he had to stop writing so many country songs. Cory's response was, "But, I'm from the country!"

It seems a lot of people want to take his talent and mold it into something marketable instead of just letting him develop his talents as a singer-songwriter. It reminds me of the Aimee Mann story. She didn't really start selling any records as a solo artist until she was almost 40. Now, was this because it took her that long to fully evolve as a songwriter? Maybe partially, but it probably had a lot more to do with the fact that as a young musician she and her music were constantly being manipulated in order to be sold. Aferall, if you can't drink Kristal, why drink champaigne at all?

My point is this: Cory Branan is a talented songwriter. He writes songs about falling fast and falling hard, regret and sweet sweet love. They're songs about girls and living in a small city more than a small town, cities like Memphis, which exist all over middle America. His lyrics paint stories of anguish and jubilance with a dash of wit. But his biggest problem seems to be the music business. His latest record has been done for a while but there's no real info on when it might see the light of day. It's being shopped so everyone can figure out how to squeeze as much money out of it as they can. Cory's just ready to move on and write some new songs that might actually get heard before they're three years old. Imagine that.

cory2.jpg

Before Cory took the stage I slipped him a napkin with my two requests. He was incredibly genorous by playing both. I badger him at every show to play one particular song, and he has avoided it in the past. Wednesday night he not only played it but he told the story of why he wrote it. Without getting too detailed because I'm just paraphrasing here, the song "Spoke To Soon" was written about a woman who was his neighbor when he was younger. Cory had a little bit of a boyhood crush on her. She was maliciously attacked one summer in her home. His parents didn't know that he knew what had happened to her, but it was a wake-up call for him about how hateful and evil human beings could be. It's a moment we all have at some point.

You can listen to the song by clicking here.

I'll write about tim tomorra...

I got to the Hi-tone early last night and still only managed to get two beers before the keg was tapped! Beer Bust At The Hi-Tone = Best Marketing Scheme Ever! Everyone keeps showing up earlier and earlier! By the end of the summer there will be a Star Wars style line-up the night before.

Anyway. Even though Sven tried to convince me to diss the place and go hang out elsewhere, I have to say I had a great time last night. I once again rocked the house at pool. My compadres would swear I was lying, but I promise before last week I haven't picked up a stick in at least a couple of years. I find that, as in most things in life, if i just get up there and act like I'm a badass - things just kind of fall into place.

After winning a couple of beers off the boys, we hit the dance floor and got all hot and sweaty. It was fun. You should go. I'll dance with you.

The highlight was definitely backyard charades.

Memphis is supposedly a music town right? There's good live music playing all over the city seven nights a week. Many nights I am torn because I have to sacrifce seeing one great show for another. Other nights I jump from bar to bar catching as many acts as can be crammed into one evening. In my nightly outings I've come to a conclusion that is not very original, as it has been pointed out to me by many others: There are two types of people that go see live music here. The first is the true music lover, the one who is open to all genres and settings. The second attends specifically for the social scene that surrounds the bands that are playing.

I don't see any specific problem with this situation. However, Saturday night when I went to check out Blair Combest at the P&H cafe, I was struck with a very disheartening dilemna. It was like pulling teeth to find someone to go see the show with me! P&H isn't exactly the center of cool for the Hi-toners and Deli Ratz. It's an institution for me personally. I've spent many nights playing darts and pool up in that place. And it is THE place to hear some of the best singer-songwriters in Memphis, and Combest is easily one of them. Easily.

I know that singer-songwriters are a hard sell these days. Wearing your heart on your sleeve and bearing your soul isn't exactly hip. Bored and aloof is all the rage. But hey kids, variety is the spice of life and if you want to listen to some great whiskey soaked, damaged heart tunes - you can't go wrong with Combest. His music is a cross between alt-country and folk rock. His lyrics are compelling and cultivated. His obvious influences include Bob Dylan (eighties gospel Bob Dylan according to him) and Bruce Springsteen. Wow, talk about being off the cool radar. But it's the obvious maturity of his music and lyrics that set him apart as he transcends the perplexity of image and coasts through on pure forte. His ineffable stage presence and magnetic personality are also a strength, not to mention he's not too hard on the eyes.

So, if you're a true music lover and not just a scenester, Combest does not disappoint. He is currently working on a new album, some songs were lost in the Easley-McCain Studio fire, but it should be finished pretty soon. It's a departure from his debut which was recorded with Snowglobe as the backing band. This time the tracks will be more stripped down with less instrumentation. He is currently working with Mark Stuart of The Secret Service as his bass player and is looking to put together a full band soon.

My one dissappointment with the entire evening was his lackadaisical rendition of his "hit" Diamond. This is my current favorite song he has written and I was looking forward to hearing it live. He introduced the song as one he was sick of playing but I can't imagine he's played it anywhere near as many times as The Boss has played Thunder Road. Perspective is a virtue.

hustle.jpgSo the website for Hustle & Flow went up this week. I've avoided all of the pre-screenings because I want to see it for the first time at the premiere in July. You should definitely check out the trailer.

I have lots of funny stories from working on this film, but I am scared that if I put them in print I might get sued. One of the least controversial involves DJ Qualls bringing the keys to his house with him on his drive in from Nashville. This would not have been a problem if he didn't have someone housesitting for him that needed said keys. It was the afternoon of the very first table reading. The first day all of the actors, the producers, and the director would sit down and read the entire script out loud. Afterwards there was a party. I missed said party as I was asked to get in my car and drive Quall's keys back to Nashville and then come back to Memphis. A hotel room for the housesitter and FEDEX overnight package would have been cheaper once they paid my day rate and mileage. But hey, that's what show business is all about - wasting time and money.

Anyway, the synopsis of the film on Yahoo reads like my bio:

Djay (Terrence Dashon Howard) is a blue-collar pimp suffering an early midlife crisis. With a lifetime of hard experiences and observations, he yearns to share his stories and change his ways on his way to becoming a rap star. But even with a little gospel inspiration and some help from his friends, he finds that the road to fame and respect is neither easy nor predictable.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, has spent more time stalking Harlan T. Bobo than me. (Have you crashed U of M Anthropology Dept fundraisers to hear him? I didn't think so!) Too Much Love is my favorite Memphis record by far (you can check out a couple of tracks on Scenestars). When You Comin' Home? is my current theme song:

I've been drinkin lots of beer
I go to all the shows
And I've been hangin' out with (shawn?) a lot
when you comin' home?

I'm listening to it right now. If you haven't picked it up yet - here's your chance. Check out The CD Release Party at Goner Records next Saturday night. It starts early and the only other thing going on is the Kidpolio video premiere at The Media Co-op, and a hear there's gonna be a Manilla House shindig, but that won't start until at least midnight.

Oh yeah. If you missed The Luv Clowns show at First Congo two Fridays ago, well it was legendary to say the least. Here are the pictures:

Q: How many hipsters does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: [roll eyes, look of disgust] You mean you don't KNOW???

You know, you can't win for losing. Last night I was informed by someone from The Commercial Appeal that as a G-List celebrity I am known in certain circles as a lush. But I swear, every time I try to call it an early night and go home at a reasonable hour, there is someone trying to buy me a drink and entice me to accompany them to the next stop. What's a girl to do?

I am a reasonably responsible person and I know when to say when. And when I indulge, believe me, I don't try to be a hero, I get a ride. So I'm tired of being called out on a semi-regular basis, when I'm just doing the same thing as every other midtown hipster. I'm no role model for sure, so give me a break people. I'm just a regular ole midtown spinster trying to get a nut. Hey, wait a minute, that came out wrong.

This has been a pretty stressful week. I try not to delve too much into the personal catastrophe that is my life, but when you get hated on all over the internerd, sometimes it spills over. Tomorrow I'll post what you really came here for. Party Pictures.

Stay tuned.

After spending most of the week at home in unpacking hell, I was looking forward to getting out tonight for Cinco De Mayo and Jeramia's b-day at The Buc, but now I'm rethinking it. I predict high drama. Then again, I might just go sit in the back and observe. I'll try not to end up under the table.

Anyway, I will definitely be hitting Dish for a hot minute to hear Sims and Richens play tonight. What else is going on tonight?

So Tuesday night, Sven and I went on a mission to try and avoid The Hi-Tone. No disrespect, we just wanted to see if there was anything else going on. We started off at The Full Moon for open mic night, hung with Hellion and Georgia, then went over to The Fucking Buc to meet Elizabeth and enjoy Happy Hour from Steve-O. It was dead. Then we went and met Dori and Vickie at Kudzu's to play pool. I was on fire and kicked everyone's azzzzzzzzzz. By 1:30 it was past my bedtime and so I asked Chris to take me home. We both had to pee really bad, so I convinced him to do a walk thru at The Hi-Tone. It was 2Am and the place was hopping. So, our experiment failed and I am happy to report that if you are looking to do something on Tuesday night, this is the place to be:

I know! I know! Long time no hear from, eh? Does anybody even still read this site? As per usual, I have been incredibly busy with a couple of business projects and I moved. AGAIN! It did not take me long to realize that I am way too old to live with a roommate. I need peace and quiet and to be able to walk around naked at will. Now that I have doubled my rent, I guess it's time to get out and find a real job. Anybody wanna give me one?

Anyway, the good news is that after my server was hi-jacked by the Russians and I took this weekend off to blog the Beale Street Music Fest for The Commercial Appeal, my vacation from this site has been rejuvenating and I am ready to get back into the groove. Now, for the bad news, it's gonna be at least two weeks before Time Warner can come out and hook up my internets. Durst!

So, I am thinking about skipping Road Runner all together and getting a new wi-fi card for my laptop and takihng advantage of all the new wirless hot-spots around Memphis. Dish, Otherlands, Empire Coffee, even Murphy's has wireless a internet connection. This might save me some cash in what I am now referring to as "the lean months."

Bottom line: I'm working on getting back to a regular blogging scehdule, bear with me!
