Even though I think I have to go downtown for NYE (haven't figured out yet which is better, to be with your friends or where you want to go, wouldn't it be awesome if those two lined up for once?), this is where my heart will be:
Tomorrow - Sat. 12/16: Limes perform live on "Pajama Party" with Shawn Cripps, Harlan T. Bobo, Paul Buchignani & George Reyes. 4 pm CST at 89.9 FM or online at wevl.org.
From Katherine Sage:
Hey gang! Just wanted to let you know that I'm headed back on the air at WEVL! It's been a year or so since Traffice Jam left the airwaves...but we're BACK - and at a fine time too.... 9 - 10am Thursday mornings!
Tune in tomorrow morning at 9am Central Time for Traffic Jam - you can find it at 89.9 FM in the Memphis area - and for those of you across the nation - tune in live at WEVL.org.
Tomorrow's show features the soundtrack to Elizabethtown.... I'll give all sorts of trivia about the artists and film - plus it's connection to Memphis!
So, I finally broke down and made a podcast. Check out 10 Degrees of Midlake with me and my very special guest Tim Regan of Snowglobe and Antenna Shoes.
This episode features music by Midlake, an unreleased Centromatic song, new music from Glossary and J.D. Reager, an original Smile demo from The Beach Boys, Tacks the Boy Disaster, David Bowie, Snowglobe, a remix from Cassettes Won't Listen, and the world premiere of a new song from Tim's side project Antenna Shoes. This show is awesome!

-Greg
ps-ill be in town dec 19
Funny thing is, of course I know Two Way Radio! Now does anyone in the band know that I know greg or that he is who I went and visited in Japan a couple of years back - probably not. Memphis sure is small town.
Last Monday night I was invited down to the new E.P. Delta Kitchen & Bar on Beale Street to try out the cuisine. I'm friends with several of the people involved in this new endeavor in the former Elvis Presley's Restaurant building located at 126 Beale street, just a short walk from The Orpheum. I always thought it was such a beautiful space and such a waste that it stood empty for so long.
Anyway, tonight at 7PM the chef, Michael Patrick, will be previewing items from the menu (that means free eats, ya'll). There will also be a cash bar, so if you are free tonight, I'd say this is the place to be...
Here are some silly pictures from my dinner with Drue Drizzle - I am not going to attempt a food review, I'll just say the food was delicious, the drinks were strong, and the dessert was heaven...
Lagniappe of the Day - According to the menu this is a little bonus that a friendly shopkeeper might add to a purchase. Hmmmmmmmmmm.
The Upstairs Bar - the bartender was checking his Myspace when we sat down - I kid you not!
Soup of the Day - Chef Michael's daily creation: Seafood Bisque. Yummy!
My lovely server, Helen! Ask for her by name....
Two are better than one...
Lobster Etouffe - Saffron scented rice and Creole tomato sauce
with shrimp and crawfish tails and of course lobster tail. Um, hell yeah I got the lobster...
And a vodka tonic or two....
Fried Peanut Butter Cheesecake - No, I'm not kidding and it was DAMN good.
And a little looksy around:
Special thanks to Chef Michael, Helen and Kurt for serving me the best damn meal I've had this year! See you tonight!
So, as per usual, I am extremely behind on blogging the Cat Power show I saw last month in Memphis. When I arrived at the invite-only performance, I ran into Doug Easley who immediately asked, "Aren't you tired of this show yet?"
Well, actually...
It was the fourth time I'd seen Cat Power play in less than two months - and although Chan has been impressive and hasn't had a significant breakdown yet (although at the ACL taping I did duck out after she started a solo sing over for the fourth time) - I actually keep coming back for the Memphis Rhythm Band. Their appeal was quite evident as when the band left the stage and Chan attempted a few solo songs, the people recording the show actually came on stage and asked that everybody quiet down.
Anyway - it was a great show and as it was explained to me, it was recorded for MTV's Urge and will be the pilot program for a new concert series that is internet only. The special catch of the performance is that they used about 10 different cameras and while viewing the show, you will actually be able to choose what angle you would like to watch from. If you choose the camera behind the stage you will get a perfect view of me drunkenly dancing on the front row. I didn't notice the camera until halfway though the show, and by that time I didn't care.
