I hosted and produced several of the station’s most popular podcasts, including, The Ardent Sessions, The Bloggeratti, On the Road with Rachelandthecity and the Makeshift Music Hour.
In 2004, I created one of the very first widely read music blogs, Scenestars.net. It has been written about in Spin, Rolling Stone, The Wall Street Journal and the Commercial Appeal.
I won the Reader’s Choice vote for Best Local Blog from the Memphis Flyer in 2005, 2006, and 2007. I was also a freelance music writer for The Commercial Appeal from 2005 until 2006, writing feature stories my weekly column, “On the Record.” I interviewed a plethora of bands, with cover stories on Lucero, Neko Case. Harlan T. Bobo, and Ted Leo. You can read some of my feature stories for various outlets here.
In 2007 and 2008 I was the official blogger for Lollapalooza.
The internet radio shows I created from 2007 until 2011, to give more exposure to Ardent Studios, featured live sessions from both national and local bands that have been downloaded over 1.5 million times each and aired on Breakthruradio.com. I used social media to raise money for the entire budget for 2011. Also, I hosted four other shows for BTR, including The Bloggerati, On the Road with Rachelandthecity, The Makeshift Music Hour, and 10 Degrees of Memphis, which eventually morphed into a SXSW showcase party in 2007, 2008, and 2009.
