I still cant stop thinking about how the president of the United States just flippantly tweeted Evacuate Immediately to Tehran, a city of 17 million people, when it was 3 AM there on Monday.
Think about that. Think about how you would feel if Kim Jong Un started shooting missiles at Canada, and then tweeted that New York City should evacuate immediately – while the roads and airport were closed down.
Theres a saying that I learned from my friend Helen after she went through drug treatment. Fast forward the tape.
She said her counselor would tell her that addicts usually had trouble with this concept – which simply means before you make a decision you should fast forward the tape and think about the consequences – for yourself and others.
I shouldnt have to explain the rest – because it should be obvious – but the point is – playing through the outcomes of your actions before you actually do something helps you make responsible, measured decisions. Some people might attribute this practice to intelligence or maturity, but it can also come from a place of trauma. For normal people, the more you fuck up, the more likely you are to start being more deliberate in your decisions.
But this never seems to be the case for Trump. He NEVER learns from mistakes, he NEVER shows empathy, he NEVER takes responsibility, and he NEVER admits that he was wrong.
I dont know if thats narcissism, sociopathy, or something else – but it shows hes mentally ill. I know Im not the first person to point out that he does not care about anyone but himself. But right now, it makes him very, very dangerous.
