British spies intercepted Russian officials laughing at Trump. Yes, really.
The self-proclaimed master negotiator is getting laughed at by the people he’s negotiating with. And we know this because British spies literally intercepted the phone calls.
The Spectator reported today that British intelligence has been sharing intercepted communications with U.S. officials – calls and texts between senior Kremlin officials – and in those communications, Putin’s inner circle is cracking up about how easy it is to play Donald Trump. A senior UK security source told The Spectator directly: “We have continually shown them intelligence that shows the Russians are lying. The Russians are privately mocking Trump over his naivety about Putin’s intentions. Putin doesn’t want to end the war.”
Let me say that again. The British government is telling the American government, with receipts, that Russia is lying to them. And the response from the American side has been to keep doing exactly what Putin wants.
This is the guy who said he’d end the war in Ukraine on day one. Day one. We’re now over a year into his second term and the war is still raging, the death toll is approaching two million combined casualties, and the only thing that’s changed is that Putin got a red carpet welcome on American soil in Alaska. With a military flyover. For a man with an active arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court. Cool.
Let’s talk about Alaska for a second. Trump flew there in August 2025 saying he wanted a ceasefire. Warned of “severe consequences” if Putin didn’t agree. Big talk. Three hours later, he emerged without a ceasefire, dropped his demand entirely, and told Sean Hannity the meeting was “a 10 in the sense that we got along great.” He didn’t offer a grade for the substance. Putin rejected lifting sanctions in exchange for a ceasefire and demanded Ukraine hand over more territory. Trump’s response? Blame Zelensky. Say Ukraine shouldn’t get Crimea back. Tell the invaded country to make concessions to the invader. A Time magazine analysis counted three major “wins” for Putin from that summit and zero for the United States.
Then came January. Trump proudly announced Putin had agreed not to fire on Kyiv for a week during record-breaking cold. Minus 20 Celsius. People were freezing. Trump called Putin personally and got what he thought was a commitment. The Kremlin immediately narrowed it to just Kyiv, just until February 1 – two days, not a week. And the moment the clock hit midnight? Missiles and drones hit Kyiv again. Residential buildings. A kindergarten. In minus 20 degree weather.
Trump’s response to this humiliation? Nothing. No consequences. No sanctions. No angry tweet. Just silence and a pivot to the next press conference.
And this is the pattern. Every single time. Trump says Putin wants peace. Putin continues the war. Trump says they had a great call. Russia keeps bombing. Trump repeats something Putin told him. It turns out to be a lie. In December 2025, Trump literally repeated Putin’s claim that Ukraine had attacked one of his residences with drones. Kyiv denied it. Russia never produced evidence it happened. But Trump just… said it. At a press conference. Like Putin’s personal PA.
The British intelligence community watched all of this happen. And apparently they kept trying. They kept bringing the intercepted communications to their American counterparts. Kept showing them the evidence that Russia was lying. That Putin’s aides were laughing – not nervous laughter, not polite chuckling – genuinely cracking up at how willingly Trump takes Putin at his word.
Think about what this means from an intelligence perspective. Five Eyes – the most elite intelligence-sharing alliance in the world – is telling the President of the United States that he’s being played. And he either doesn’t believe them, doesn’t care, or genuinely doesn’t understand what’s happening. Pick your poison – they’re all terrible.
The MI6 chief said it publicly in December 2025. Putin is stalling. He doesn’t want peace. He wants to subjugate Ukraine. This isn’t classified analysis from a shadowy source. The head of British intelligence said it in a public speech. And still, Trump keeps going back for more.
Trump is an idiot who brands himself as the ultimate dealmaker. The Art of the Deal guy. The man who can’t be conned. But the receipts tell a different story. He went to Alaska demanding a ceasefire and left doing Putin’s bidding. He announced a week-long pause that lasted two days. He’s repeated Russian propaganda at American press conferences. And now we find out that the people on the other side of the table aren’t even pretending to respect him when the cameras are off.
Every con artist needs a mark. And according to British intelligence, the Kremlin found theirs.
This isn’t a partisan take. This is intercepted communications from a Five Eyes ally. It’s intelligence professionals telling us what they’re seeing in real time. The man with the nuclear codes is being openly mocked by the country he thinks he’s outsmarting.
The art of the deal, everybody.
